Driving through spectacular mountain scenery along 11 km long serpentine road to the top of mountain Akhun is a real enjoyment. Experienced drivers and guides make your exploration safe, comfortable, pleasurable and interesting.
Built in 1936 at the height of 663 m above sea level, the viewing tower on top of Mt. Akhun offers to nature lovers spectacular views over Sochi, great expanse of the Black Sea and the Western slopes of the Caucasus Mountains.
The tower itself is 30 m high and if you’re here for the view, you have to climb 220 steps. There’s no doubt you will enjoy it as the steps are not steep at all and the view is just gorgeous. The peaks of the Western Caucasus are all in front of you, reaching 3256 m. But the highest peaks of the Great Caucasus Range are all in the Central Caucasus – 16 of them exceed the highest European mountain Mont Blanc.
The ground floor cafe in the tower is popular for its delicious shish-kebab and local wine.
